Mountain States Region
Dave Martin is the President of Moran & Company’s Western Region and Managing Partner of the firm’s Denver office. He is responsible for managing marketing assignments and client relationships in the Western United States, and has over 20 years of real estate and capital markets experience.
How do you describe what you do?
I’m often asked what it’s like to work in real estate brokerage, and my answer is always the same: I don’t work in real estate brokerage, I work in the client service industry. Being a broker certainly entails more than acting as an intermediary for our clients. For me, the satisfying part of the job comes from providing our clients with a professional service that goes above and beyond a fiduciary responsibility; whether it be by delivering insightful market research backed by years of experience, a streamlined marketing process, or simple transparent accessibility. A wise man once told me, “If you’re passionate about what you do then you’re never off the clock,” and it is this very idea that forms the impetus of my work at Moran.
What does it take to be successful in your role?
The success of Moran stems from the quality of its team, and I’m thankful to have one of the best in the industry. Every individual in my office works hard and brings a unique perspective to the table, which in turn translates to quality service for our clients every time. The ability of each team member to contribute meaningfully to every deal is what makes the environment at Moran so special. This teamwork is the very backbone of my role, and is vital to our success as a whole.
Why did you choose brokerage?
Brokerage can certainly be exciting when deals go smoothly. But I think what initially attracted me, and what keeps me interested, are the constant challenges that stimulate my thinking and force me to come up with new and creative solutions to unique problems. The world of real estate brokerage is never static, and I’m always encountering new obstacles to keep me on my toes.
What (non-work) activity, pasttime, hobby would you be doing if you weren’t in the office?
When I’m not in the office you can find me casting a line for some trout or hitting the slopes in Vail, CO.
