Clients come to Moran & Company for the expertise and professionalism of its leaders, regional partners and regional support teams.
Moran & Company was formed in 1971 as an apartment investment firm. From 1971-1994, Moran & Company raised the equity and arranged the debt for the development of 14,000 to-be-built apartments. Our principals acted as general partners and co-investors in virtually all of those ventures. We own a portfolio of approximately 6,980 apartments today.
To monitor and enhance the performance of our investments, we hired asset management personnel and formed a property management company. RMK Management Corporation, our affiliated property management company, manages approximately 6,558 units in the Midwest.
In 1994, one of our institutional investors asked us to assist with the disposition of several apartment properties in Southern California. The buyers that bought each of these properties were so impressed with the value added by Moran & Company's brokerage team that they, in turn, hired us to market other apartment properties on their behalf. Thus, our brokerage business was born.
From 1995 to 1999, in an attempt to service our institutional clientele in most of the large apartment markets, we opened three additional brokerage offices in Atlanta, Denver, and Chicago. In 2003, Moran & Company opened an office in Dallas. In 2004, we opened an office in Washington, D.C., and in 2006, we opened an office in Seattle. Since 1995, Moran & Company has closed nearly $10 billion in apartment sales across the country. A summary of all of the properties marketed and sold by Moran & Company is included in the Sales Experience section herein.
